Despite having first aid training and certification, I often wonder if in an emergency I would be able to immediately recall all the steps in the right order, and draw on the knowledge for exact compressions, breath timings etc. if faced with having to perform CPR. I often try to test myself at random times, suddenly asking myself ‘if someone needed CPR right now, can you remember what to do’ - to see if I can recall the steps and procedures accurately within a moments notice…and it’s really hard to get right when out of context like that. I was talking with a friend who had just completed their first aid training, saying that despite having CPR training, when you go months without having to think about it again, I was unsure if I would be able to recall all the exact steps in an instant, if needed? I said “I wish there was a card or something I could always have with me in my wallet, with a simple reminder of the steps, to jumpstart my memory in an emergency ” I’ve found that once I see a visual reminder the steps, the knowledge and training all comes back immediately. That spurred me to look for a wallet sized CPR card online, and is how I discovered ‘Survival’! I ordered a bunch of the CPR cards to have one in all my bags, and to give out to friends and family.
